Wind down to the holidays with some snowy maths problems inspired by The Christmas Wish – by Antonia Peters.
For younger children
How much snow?
Challenge the children to estimate how much snow is needed to build a snow dragon. Ask: What size is the snow dragon? How could we measure snow? (For example, buckets, shovelfuls, barrels.) Suppose two barrels of snow are needed to build a snow dragon. Reinforce the two times table by asking the children to explore how many snow dragons they can build with different amounts of snow.
