Peter Adderley – artist

Use this resource with the Comparing coastlines lesson from our Sea topic.

Investigate Peter Adderley's paintings, which are an idealised, stylised version of reality.

Take a long look at Harbour Post. What do the children notice about the painting?

Peter Adderley says that, as a child, he really enjoyed drawing and drew whenever he could. He used to copy pictures out of books and the more drawing he did, the better he became – and the better he became, the more people encouraged him. In spite of the fact that a careers adviser told Peter at the age of 14 that he should consider studying geography instead of art, he decided to stick at doing the thing he loved.

Use in conjunction with the 'Comparing coastlines' lesson from the Sea topic.
