Making waves – radio play

Radio play

Making waves juxtaposes the modern-day story of a paralympic athlete with the fictional 1948 commentary of the first Paralympic Games. Ensure that the children understand that the stories are separate but run parallel. What is the effect of the story being presented in this way? What did they learn about the Paralympics from the radio commentary? What did Georgina's story teach them about the realities of being an elite athlete?

Use alongside the ‘Sport for all’ lesson in the Sport topic.
